Holy smokes! It's almost July!

It has been an exciting 2 weeks around here. Let's see...where to begin?

My car's starter crapped out on me about a week ago and I was forced to shell out $200 to get a new one. Seeing as I was under the car anyway, I changed the oil, cleaned out the air filter and put new connections on the battery. You'll all be happy to know that the car is running just swell now, but the steering wheel is like grabbing burning sulphur if it has been parked in the sunshine.

Hockey is now over too. I totally missed the opening part of the World Cup, but now that it is in the meat and potatos of the event it is a lot more interesting. Hopefully, I'll catch some of the matches before its all over. What time are the games coming on in Japan? Probably like 3am or some other awkward time.

Metal Mike has been charged with Blogicide, yet again. This blog, which was getting interesting, had it's plug pulled awhile ago. I think that it must be blog number 7 to bite the dust.

Finally, congrats to Champ E who got hisself a job where he can use all of his edjimaction. Way to go, boyee.

Mission Impossible 4

I've been son busy trying to get everything here sorted out that I have neglected to keep everyone informed via the blogosphere, or whatever it is being called. Don't beleive me? Scum bag! Why don't you read on for tales that will turn your marrow to ice?

I finally got my hands on the dudemobile. Now, I know buying a car doesn't sound like it is such a big deal like a sex change operation or tap-dancing competition, but it is. I called over 40 people before I got a chance to look at one car! The cars I was calling about were always either sold, had somekind of problem (i.e. "The service engine light has been on for a few months...and it is 'dusty rose' in colour), way on the other side of Hell's Half Acre or the person selling their car couldn't speak English. (Was ist das? Ein Kanadian nicht Anglisch ver sprechen?) Anyway, I finally found the Dudemobile, or Otakukampfwagen, and got the guy down to $1100 using my Jedi mind trick. Now, if I could only get thr $40 for the safety inspection....

I also went to TORONTO, home of the Leafs, the CN Tower and most of Canada's Terrorist population. I had a pretty good time for the first few days, but I came down with a solid cold over the last few days, which benched me for most outdoor activities. Watched a lot of DVDs and played some games. All of my buddies are pretty much the same since last time I saw them, except with mone more Leafs season to complain about.

The job search is moving forward well enough. Things here are done differently than the way they are in Japan. In Japan, there used to be ads stating the prefered nationality of the applicant, here they don't care about your nationality as long as your not white, have a vagina and preferably crippled in some way. This is really a job market for the paraplegic lesbian Eskimo woman with elephantitis of the face. Anyway, I've got a couple irons in the fire as it were, so I'm not too worried.

I saw the Da Vinci code. It was okay. I had heard the story about the knights Templar and the offspring of Jesus years ago in a book called The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, so the whole punchline of Da Vinci didn't surprise me like most punters. Seeing as the Holy Blood and the Holy Grail read like a conspiracy theory book which makes huge leaps of logic and faith when presenting its arguments, I never took it too seriously. Da Vinci code takes that theory, invents a lot of history, or skips over a lot of it, and makes some pretty convienent plot turns to keep the viewer involved. It was OK, and I would recommend it over like Fast and the Furious 2 or the new "Omen" (oh, man did it ever SUCKKKKK!). But some of the special CGI in Da Vinci is totally amazing i.e. the Siege of Jerusalem...man I wish I had been there firing off trebuchets and shit.

My wife is still in Japan burying her father. I don't know how deep they have to dig, but she won't be home for another 3 weeks. She had to go back after we'd been here a week because he became deathly ill. He passed away a few weeks ago, but the Buddhist funeral rights take one lunar month. I'm looking forward to her coming home. Triple French, the hi-tech digital feline domesticus, is enjoying the garden eating bugs and sleeping in the dirt.

I'll try and update more often, especially for those overseas, to keep everyone posted on life in the small city. Until then, take 'er easy, dudes.
